God’s Plan of Salvation

God has made it very clear to mankind of His desire to save us and live in our midst right from the time of creation. The Garden of Eden was a magnificent example of God’s grace on Adam and Eve; of a perfect relationship between God, man and woman illustrating beautifully that it was all mankind really needed to make them happy. However to ensure that man obeyed his commands and did not overstep the boundaries of grace, He forbade them to eat the fruit of the tree that would constitute sin. That sin would cause spiritual death, and eventually physical death. But man violated that commandment of God, and the consequence was dire. God drove them out of the Garden of Eden, and man lost his relationship with God.

God then provided the Tabernacle to illustrate His Grace and His presence in the midst of His people.(Exodus 40:34-35 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle). The pieces of furniture were thoughtfully placed in the tabernacle, showing them how God was to be approached. These seemingly cumbersome rules were not intended to burden the people, but to once again demonstrate God’s unquestionable authority and holiness. They had to obey reverently not only in the construction of the tabernacle, but also in the way they worshipped inside the Tabernacle. Any irreverence or ritual uncleanness could result from an individual being cut off from his people or in death. To violate the grace plan of the Tabernacle at the Altar of Incense, the Table of Showbread or in wearing the priestly garments, meant dire consequences or instant death.

Later God sent His only Son Jesus Christ, who walked upon this earth, Tabernacled and died amongst us, thereby fulfilling the strict laws of the Old Testament Tabernacle.

Gods plan is to save us all, He is not the cause of our sorrows and sufferings in life. Following the will of God, living a life pleasing to Him, saves us from much distress. Sufferings come our way due to various factors: Natural disasters; man’s coldness towards man; due to our own wrong actions; or as in the case of Job in the Old Testament; Satan’s attack on him due to his faith and trust in God.

I learnt much from my spiritual journey, and realized that God stood by my side in those difficult times. Though I underwent much stress, He saved me from much sorrow. God ensures that each one of us is blessed with a spiritual gift, or two; (the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit), and it is essential we use these gifts to live in harmony with one and other. Our spiritual gifts are a free gift from God to direct us to the right path; unfortunately circumstances cause many of us much grief. (Isaiah 11:2-3 And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord)

Without the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, there would be no salvation. One may think that all suffering should be over since Jesus paid the price for all our sins, however to benefit from His sacrifice, man must walk in the way that God has shown us.

True Salvation is found in following the will of God and pursuing righteousness with love, peace and joy. Living by God’s Word and spreading God’s light in this world, irrespective of our religious beliefs, is the only thing that will one day unite us all with our One and only true God; to tabernacle in the shelter of His heavenly glory. Our God is a loving God, but we sinners fail to see His Light in the darkness of our lives.

What a wonderful life if would be if man didn’t sin, we would all be enjoying the bliss of  walking with God in the Garden of Eden!
